Subi, the Armchair Huntress

Since my typing is better than my cursive, I asked my Mom to write all the raffle entries onto slips of paper for me.

Because I don't have thumbs, she folded them up for me, then shuffled the papers around. I did my best to contain my enthusiasm for this activity.

My Mom then waited for me to sit up, and the first piece of paper I distinctly poked with my nose, had the name Subi on it. Congratulations Subi, you are the winner! If you haven't had a chance to visit her blog, you should check it out!

Distinguished Dog Neckties slide onto your own dog collar without any special fasteners required. Sizing is based on the height of the tie from the top of the "knot" to the bottom point. All ties are made from felt. Collars are machine stitched and decorative elements are attached via non-toxic adhesive.

Happy Independence Day

This picture was taken in 2008, when we still had a dirt yard. We may not have had grass, but we did have the most important thing -- Old Glory.

Supervising from a Distance :(

I find it much more entertaining to to hurdle my body off the porch, rather than use the little temporary stairs we have. My dad decided it was finally time to get "real" front steps, in hopes that I will ease up on my Flying Wallenda act (because he worries about my joints).

My feelings ended up getting a little hurt today. I had been helping dig the hole for the footings, build the wood form and place of those bar thingy's in.

The big moment finally arrived, and I was ready to help Dad and Grandpa load all the stuff in the cement mixer, and really get down to business.  I love brown mud, so I would certainly love gray mud too. Much to my dismay, here is where I ended up. Are you kidding me? They finished the job without me! And they didn't even let me write my initials in the cement. Sigh.

Yes, that's really me. The one closing my eyes from the brute impact received from...a girl.

Gardening with Mom

Every year my Mom threatens to actually plant a vegetable garden in the ground. Every year she ends up chickening out and buying some starter plant, sticks it in a pot on the front porch and prays for a miracle. This photo is her cucumbers from last year. I'm here to tell you this is a big as they got!

This year we have "porch tomatoes" growing, and so far there is actually one respectable sized tomato on it, and a bunch of babies. I will report back at harvest time.

Lucy and Me

My Mom and I got to see my sister Lucy's Mom not too long ago. We are planning a family reunion one of these weekends very soon. I haven't seen my sister in over 2 years, so I'm really looking forward to it. Here is a photo of us when we were kids. Lucy is on the left.
